Botulinum toxin or Botox is an injectable product for the treatment of wrinkles in Tunisia. When small doses are injected into a muscle, it temporarily causes the gradual relaxation of it, so it blocks muscle contractions responsible for expression lines (horizontal forehead lines and vertical frown lines)
This purely aesthetic product  which helps to attenuate wrinkles was discovered and developed rapidly following the incidental establishment of a reduction of wrinkles of the crow’s feet of patients medically treated by Botox.
Approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the US, Botulinum toxin or Botox is a product used for facial rejuvenation without surgery or anaesthesia, and to temporarily reduce and smooth wrinkles at the top of the face (forehead, frown lines and wrinkles of the crow’s feet) for people aged between 18 and 65 years old.

Expression lines are caused by the contractions of the facial muscles when we show our emotions.

Botulinum toxin acts at the junction of the nerve with the muscle to block the chemical substance responsible for muscle contraction. Injected in small quantities, botulinum toxin smoothes the skin relaxes the face and wrinkles fade. The face does not remain fixed and the result is natural.

The result of an injection is visible from day 3 and after 15 days is optimal. The effect of the product lasts from 4 to 9 months.

The use of botulinum toxin can be associated with injections of hyaluronic acid, for a comprehensive care in the treatment of wrinkles.

It must be done by a qualified doctor, preferably with a specialization giving it depth knowledge of facial anatomy (plastic surgery, maxillofacial). The Botox is injected in the forehead, neck and around the eyes.

Several injections are performed during a Botox session which lasts about 5-10 minutes, with a thin needle into the target areas associated with the muscles responsible for wrinkles. Botulinum toxin used by our doctors is of superior quality (Allergan or Dysport) for optimal and effective results. We do not work with Chinese products, Korean and others that have not received marketing authorization approval (Authorisation Market) because they are dangerous, uncertified and not purified.

The consequences of the Botox injection are insignificant. There are exceptionally bruising and redness from 15 to 30 minutes after injection of botulinum toxin.

What are the permitted injections of cosmetic medicine when you are under surgery?

After a cosmetic surgery in Tunisia, we can take advantage of general anaesthesia to make you injected by hyaluronic acid (Restylane products Q.Med or Teosyal of Teoxane) or PRP (Rich Plasma Plate) but we do never inject you with botulinum toxin (Botox) when you’re anesthetised to avoid the anaesthetics danger such as curare related to toxin of Botox.

It is also advisable to inject botulinum toxin (Botox) within 3 weeks after a cervicofacial lift or facial lipofilling considering the importance of postoperative inflammatory processes after the intervention that will promote the dissemination of products outside targeted injected areas (very short results over time).

So always respect a deadline of three weeks between a facelift, blepharoplasty, facial lipofilling and Botox.
